Deluxe Corporation Launches Second Year of the 100 Hours Campaign; Shares Stories of Employee Volunteerism
New series of inspirational videos and photo essays shows how Deluxe employees used 100 hours of paid time off to improve their communities
SHOREVIEW, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today, Deluxe Corporation unveiled a new series of powerful employee volunteerism stories as it launched its “100 Hours to Make a Difference” campaign. For the second straight year, Deluxe asked its more than 5,000 North American employees what they would do if they were granted 100 hours of paid time (PTO) to spend improving their communities. Those inspirational stories are now online at www.deluxecares.com.
The campaign began in 2015 to honor the company’s 100th anniversary. It proved so popular with employees that it was brought back for a second year, this time with nine lucky individuals chosen to donate 100 hours of PTO to a cause of their choice. Dozens of employees submitted heart-felt nominations for a chance to win this honor, chosen by last year’s recipients. The nine stories range from a mother who volunteers in her son’s autism-focused classroom to one employee helping bring back a Louisiana town devastated by floods.
“We have a long history of not only donating to worthy causes, but of empowering our employees to volunteer for causes close to their hearts,” said Lee Schram, CEO of Deluxe Corporation. “Our employees have really embraced this program and the opportunity to dedicate a significant amount of time to truly make a difference in the communities we serve. I am incredibly proud of our 100 Hours program.”
Since its founding in 1915, Deluxe has fostered community involvement among its employees and supported an array of causes. From arts groups to financial literacy programs to job-skills training, the Deluxe Corporation Foundation has awarded more than $105 million in grants that strengthen American and Canadian communities. The “100 Hours to Make a Difference” initiative helps further Deluxe’s engrained spirit of volunteerism across the company.
“The impact of the 100 Hours program was immediate, not only with the charities our employees serve, but with our entire employee base,” said Amanda Brinkman, chief brand and communications officer for Deluxe. “Capturing the stories of these nine wonderful employees helps further the sense of pride across the Deluxe family and makes everyone excited about the prospect of having the chance to do this themselves. We have such an incredible employee base.”
Among the stories highlighted on www.deluxecares.com is a video of Louise Guillemette, who volunteers with her son’s annual Special Olympics team in New Hampshire. She shares with pride just how much the team means to her son, Kyle, and to his teammates who compete for fun and not individual honors. In a poignant photo essay, Jennifer Martini, an industrial engineer in Deluxe’s Shoreview, Minnesota headquarters, helps organize a community sales drive each year for Children’s Hospital. Her efforts help to raise thousands of dollars for one of the nation’s top pediatric hospitals.
The first five stories, in video and photo essays, are now online at Deluxecares.com. The final four stories will be posted online in the coming months.
